What does participating in the biochar project mean for farmers?

As a farmer, you act as a feedstock supplier to the BX Biochar Project. This means that you supply waste wood from removed orchards and trimmed material to BX, and we take this material and turn it into biochar. You aren’t responsible for creating, selling or using the biochar that is created, which is all handled by BX. You’ll be paid based on the weight of wood supplied, which is measured at the point it is turned into biochar at our facilities.

The waste wood or biomass will be chipped by us on your land, removed and hauled to our biochar facility. We then develop the carbon credit projects and pay you within 30 days of the biochar being created from your waste wood or biomass.

If I’m thinking about a biochar project?

  • First start a biochar carbon credits project on the BX Platform.
  • Complete the questionnaire and subsequent steps.
  • This is giving us the vital information we need for a project.
  • Don’t worry, there’s no commitment until we’ve spoken directly.
  • Once complete, we will contact you.
